Mozambique: Fly Modern ark open to cooperate in LAM forensic audit - AIM report
Seeking to increase sources of revenue collection, the government decided to again review the Regulation for the Licensing and Export of Works of Art and Crafts, making the activity in Mozambique more expensive, particularly for individual entrepreneurs.
With the argument of “making the marketing and export of works of art and crafts more flexible, as well as simplifying the procedures inherent to licensing”, the government has decided that, from September, “all works of art and crafts produced and marketed in Mozambique that are intended for export” will be subject to a new legal regime.
The newspaper @Verdade has learned that the fee paid for the issuance and renewal of the license – which varied according to whether the operator was small, medium or large: 2,500 meticais, 5,000 meticais or 10,000 meticais respectively – will now cost 12,000 meticais.
In addition, the government has created a “fee for issuing the declaration for works of art and crafts” that varies between 500 meticais for each “work of art” and 500 meticais for every two kilos of “crafts”.
In addition to establishing higher costs, the licensing of individuals – who are the vast majority of those practising this activity – is subject to, in addition to the presentation of a photocopy of the Identity Card or any other identification document of the applicant, the presentation of the Unique Tax Identification Number and the Criminal Record Certificate.
