One hundred and ten commercial establishments in Maputo have been closed in the last seven days due to the noise pollution they were creating. The dwellings were operating in various municipal districts, particularly in Nlhamankulu, KaMaxakeni and KaMavota.
The information was shared with ‘Notícias’ on Tuesday by Municipal Police spokesperson Arsénia Miambo during the presentation of a report on activities between 29 July and 4 August.
Miambo explained that, during this period, 3,550 informal vendors in the city centre were told to clean the areas where they were trading, not to occupy the roadway or roads of commercial establishments, and to avoid displaying products in shop windows and on vertical and horizontal signs.
The police spokesperson added that approximately 5,000 drivers of public and semi-public passenger transport vehicles were made aware of the situation at bus stops and terminals, in addition to publicising parking controls and fire prevention actions in secondary schools and commercial institutions.
