Unknown individuals vandalised a power distribution pole in the Tenga area, Moamba district, yesterday, causing an interruption in the power supply early on Wednesday morning, according to a statement from EDM.
“This act of sabotage left around 4,000 customers in the neighbourhoods of Tenga, Malanga 2, Pessene, Maguaza and Caniço without electricity,” the EDM statement sent to AIM today reads.
An EDM team was on site to restore the system in the affected areas, some consumers being in the interim supplied with power via alternative routes.
Given the increasing and worrying occurrence of acts of vandalism, EDM calls for community vigilance, as these acts compromise the company’s efforts to provide access to energy for all Mozambicans by 2030.
“Given the inconvenience caused by this sabotage, Electricidade de Moçambique thanks everyone for their understanding,” the statement stresses, pledging the company to working to further improve the quality of services.
