The 20th Ordinary Session of the Council of Ministers held last Tuesday (09-07) considered and approved:
The classification of these buildings on architectural, historical and socio-cultural criteria will safeguard their conservation and preservation as tourist and cultural attractions.
This act ensures in perpetuity their legal and adequate protection, conservation and sustainable management, the maintenance of their integrity, authenticity and the preservation of associated architectural values, while avoiding their destruction or unauthorised alterations, thus ensuring their transmission between current and future generations.
The action finds legal basis in Law No. 10/88 of 22 December, which determines the legal protection of material and immaterial assets of Mozambican Cultural Heritage; Resolution no. 12/2010, of 2 June, which approves the Monuments Policy and Decree no. 55/2016, of 28 November, which approves the regulation on the management of immovable cultural assets.
