The judge of the Superior Court of Appeals of Beira urged the new presiding judge of the judicial court of Manica province to focus on efficiency in procedural processing, so as not to accumulate pending cases.
Speaking at the inauguration of Ifigénio Baptista as presiding judge of the judicial court of the Province of Manica, Fernando Pantie stated that procedural speed would maintain citizen confidence in judicial institutions.
Judge Pantie also challenged the Judge Baptista to pursue equitable justice and keep the body free of corruption.
Pantie said that the people were crying out for justice and that the new presiding judge of the judicial court of the Province of Manica had an urgent mission to do more for the good of justice in that part of the country.
Efigénio Baptista was sworn in in Chimoio on Friday, and said that he was committed to better serving the citizens and enforcing justice as required by law.
Outgoing presiding judge Memuna Manavela said she was leaving the judicial court of the Province of Manica with her head held high, while bequeathing her successor a great challenge with regard to environmental crimes.
Efigénio Baptista joined the justice system in March 2011, serving as presiding judge of the judicial court in the districts of Caia, Cheringoma and Chemba in Sofala province and the district of Manica in Manica province, as well as in the cities of Tete and Maputo.
He recently acted as judge in the ‘undeclared debts’ case in the judicial court of the city of Maputo.
