Mozambique: Plan approved with aim of cutting road deaths, injuries

The Chief of Lesotho Defence Staff Lieutenant General EM Letsoela has left the country to attend an official closing of SADC Mission in Mozambique.
The closing ceremony will be on 04 July 2024 at Gabo Delgado province of Mozambique. This after Lesotho and other SADC states contributed troops from 2021 to assist Mozambique forces in the fight against terrorism in the province.
The head of SADC states and governments recently announced that the mission would come to an end on 15 July 2024. Following the announcement SADC troops embarked on the troops withdrawals from Mozambique, Lesotho included. The last stick of Lesotho contingent from Mozambique arrived in Lesotho on 28 June 2024.
The Chief of Lesotho Defence Staff is amongst the SADC Chiefs to witness the viewing of the confiscated weapons and war material which will be displayed by SAMIM Force Commander Major General Patrick Dube and will hand them over to the Minister of National Defence, Republic of Mozambique His Excellency Cristóvão Artur Chume.
The event will end by Signing of Certificate handing over, presentation of SAMIM certificates to mission personnel and playing 40 Anthems (SADC and Mozambique).
