A Mozambican citizen detained in the Republic of India in possession of drugs is awaiting trial there.
The information was provided in Maputo on Monday by the Minister of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs, Helena Kida, on the sidelines of an International Symposium on Gender in the Judiciary.
Minister Kida noted that the government was monitoring the case through the Mozambique Embassy in New Delhi, but reaffirmed that there would be no extradition, and that the accused would be tried in India.
“We are going to let the Indian justice administration bodies work, and that is what has been happening. She remains in detention, has not yet been tried, but there is already evidence and we will wait for the trial,” Kida added.
