The private sector is advocating the development of a list of goods and services that Mozambican micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) can offer mega-projects, as a way of taking advantage of opportunities generated by the exploitation of natural resources in Mozambique.
At the same time, the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) supports the need for harmonisation of support activities and the registration of companies already capable of participating in the value chain of multinationals, involving, for example, sufficient know-how, organised accounting and, in specific cases, certification.
The points were shared during a recent meeting between the CTA’s Natural Resources and Energy Department and the Local Content Commission, convened to discuss, among other matters, long-term strategy.
The CTA maintains that local content must be seen not only from the point of view of qualification and regulation, but also operationalization, as only then can it offer the gains anticipated by companies.
