The Frelimo political commission today proposed the names of Roque Silva, Damião José and Daniel Chapo as pre-candidates to succeed Filipe Nyusi as President of the Republic of Mozambique in the general elections on October 9th.
According to internal information to which Lusa had access, the list, which includes the current secretary-general, Roque Silva, was approved at the meeting of the political commission of the Front for the Liberation of Mozambique (Frelimo) and submitted immediately afterwards to the extraordinary session of the party’s Central Committee, which is already taking place in Matola, on the outskirts of Maputo.
It is up to the Central Committee, the party’s highest body between congresses, to approve Frelimo’s candidate for the October presidential election, which may also decide to add other candidates.
