The Municipality of Maputo is working to create conditions for the resettlement of over 7,800 displaced families, totaling 32,000 people, due to floods caused by rains in the capital of the country.
To this end, the municipality has already identified spaces in the districts of Matutuíne, Boane, Marracuene, and Manhiça, where basic infrastructure conditions such as healthcare, educational facilities, water supply, electricity, and access roads are to be created.
The announcement was made on the 17th by the councilor for Women, Social Action, and Family Affairs, Anabela Inguane, speaking to the press moments after the opening of the 10th National Meeting of the Notícias Society. The source also explained that five accommodation centers housing families affected by the floods have been deactivated, as these families have returned to their homes.
