The Swedish Government is financing a food security, climate change combat, and women’s empowerment program in selected districts in the provinces of Niassa, Cabo Delgado, and Nampula with approximately 450 million meticais.
The program, called Alcance, will be implemented by a consortium of ten civil society organizations to alleviate vulnerability among certain families in aspects of food security, housing, natural resource management, and women’s empowerment over a two-year period.
The Secretary-General of We Effect, Anna Tubblin, is hopeful for the outcomes, considering the commitment of the civil society organizations involved in implementing the project.
The Governor of Niassa, Judite Massengele, stated on Wednesday in Lichinga, at the project’s launch ceremony, that the initiative aims to complement the government’s efforts in ensuring the well-being of the population, with a particular focus on the northern region facing multiple challenges.
