Train traffic interrupted on rail line between Mozambique and South Africa

Train circulation on the Ressano Garcia railway line between the Port of Maputo to South Africa has been interrupted due to damage caused by the intense rain falling in Maputo city and province in recent days.
Some parts of the 88-kilometre line were buried, while others hung suspended after the supporting platform was washed away.
train circulation on the Goba line (between the Port of Maputo and Eswatini) have also been interrupted, the head of Passenger Transport Services at Portos e Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique, Yara Popinsky, said.
On the other hand, circulation on the Limpopo line has now been re-established.
