Mozambique: PR praises the achievements of the March 8 Generation

The Council of Ministers this Tuesday (19-03) approved the decree that approves the structure, organisation and functioning of the Financial Intelligence Office of Mozambique (GiFiM), revoking Decree no. 49/2019, of 7 June. This is a decision that aims to adjust the institution to operational instruments on combating money laundering, terrorist financing and financing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
According to a statement from the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, the new GiFiM aims to collect, receive, request, centralise, analyse and disseminate information regarding economic operations to judicial, police, investigation, supervision and inspection authorities. -financial actions capable of substantiating acts of money laundering, financing of terrorism, financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and related crimes.

In Tuesday’s Cabinet session, the Executive also approved the Decree that creates the Millenium Challenge Account – Mozambique (MCA – Mozambique) and approves the respective Organic Statute. The MCA–Mozambique is a public institution, temporary in nature, endowed with legal personality and administrative autonomy, and with full powers of asset and financial management of the resources made available to it, including by the Government of Mozambique
During the cabinet session, the executive also approved decrees that adjust the organisation and functioning of the National Institute for Socio-cultural Research (ARPAC); which redefines the Nature, Duties, Competencies and Structure of the National Song and Dance Company (CNCD, IP) and which adjusts the Nature, Duties and Competencies of the National Library of Mozambique (BNM).
At the last weekly meeting, the executive approved the regulation on the management of Chemical Products and Organic and Persistent Pollutants (POP). The regulation establishes the rules for the management of chemicals and organic and persistent pollutants, regarding the import, export, production, handling and use of chemicals and their mixtures, adoption of mechanisms for the prevention of pollution, protection of the environment, of human and animal health.
The government also approved the decree approving the regulation on the Control of hydrochlorofluorocarbons and associated equipment.
The regulation establishes standards that guarantee the gradual reduction in the production, export, import, transit, trade and consumption of chemical substances that destroy the ozone layer and affect the climate, as well as the use of equipment that contains substances known as hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), which are ozone-depleting substances.
