After Severe Tropical Storm Filipo, the National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) warns that as a result of the passage of a cold frontal system and the consequent re-intensification of atmospheric instability in the southern and central regions of the country, there will be a change in the weather characterised by the occurrence of moderate to heavy rains (30 to 50 millimetres in 24 hours), starting this Friday (15-03) with thunderstorms and gusty winds in Gaza province (mainly in the districts of Chigubo, Massangena, Chicualacuala and Mapai); in Inhambane province (mainly in the districts of Massinga, Funhalouro, Vilankulo, Inhassoro, Mabote and Govuro); in Sofala province (mainly in the districts of Machanga, Chibabava, Buzi, Gorongosa, Nhamatanda, Maríngue, Chemba and the city of Beira); in Tete province (mainly in the districts of Angónia, Magoe, Songo, Chiúta, Chifunde, Marávia, Tsangano, Macanga and Zumbu); and in all districts of Manica province.
Meanwhile, predominantly very cloudy skies are forecast for Maputo province, with the occurrence of showers in Maputo, with wind from northeast to southeast.
In the provinces of Niassa, Cabo Delgado and Nampula, INAM predicts hot and humid weather, with slightly cloudy to clear skies, but with periods of very cloudy weather; the possibility of showers accompanied by thunderstorms in the extreme north of the provinces of Niassa and Cabo Delgado and scattered light rains in the rest of the region; and wind of weak intensity from northeast to southeast.
