In separate meetings, the Minister of National Defence, Cristóvão Chume, on Friday (01-03) met the High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania in Mozambique, Phaustine Kasike, and Mozambique’s Ambassador-Designated to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Ilundi dos Santos.
The meetings aimed to review bilateral cooperation in the field of defence between Mozambique and the two countries.
In the meeting with the Tanzanian high commissioner, the Minister of National Defence also conveyed the country’s condolences to the government and people of Tanzania on the death of the country’s former president, Ali Hassan Mwinyi.
Bilateral relations between Mozambique and Tanzania, and with Vietnam, date back to the liberation struggle, when both countries provided multifaceted support for the achievement of national independence.
