Cholera was diagnosed in two children, one nine months old and the other six years old, at the Ressano Garcia Health Centre in Moamba district, Maputo province.
The information was shared today by the director of Maputo Provincial Health Services, Iolanda Santos.
Santos said that one of the six-year-old child’s relatives had also suffered from vomiting and diarrhoea, symptoms presented by the two children, who are already back in good health.
Health authorities in Maputo province say they are monitoring the situation, and samples were taken to identify the origin of the outbreak. Cholera has not been recorded in the south of the country for around a year.
