The President of Timor-Leste and Nobel Peace Laureate, Jose Ramos Horta undertakes a working visit to the Republic of India to participate in the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024 to be held from January 10 to 12.
The Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, conceptualized in 2003 under the visionary leadership of Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, has evolved into a globally acclaimed platform for business networking, knowledge sharing, and strategic partnerships for inclusive growth and sustainable development.
During the two-day working visit, President Horta will address the opening of the Summit, highlighting business opportunities in Timor-Leste and fostering bilateral relations between Timor-Leste and India.

The 10th Vibrant Global Summit 2024 will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, His Excellency Shri Narendra Modi on January 10th.
The President of Timor-Leste, the President of the United Arab Emirates, and the President of Mozambique are among the Heads of State in attendance at this year’s Summit.
This 10th Edition will also celebrate 20 Years of Vibrant Gujarat as one of the most successful international summits in Asia.
The President of Timor-Leste will also have a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of India. The Republic of India and Timor-Leste have been actively engaged in various sectors since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Timor-Leste and India on january 24, 2003.
During the ASEAN-India meeting at the 43rd ASEAN Summit in September 2023 in Jakarta, Prime Minister Modi announced the decision to establish a permanent mission in Timor-Leste, reinforcing India’s commitment to its diplomatic relations with Timor-Leste.
The President of Timor-Leste is accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito Freitas, and senior officials from MoFAC.
