Passability is restricted on the Mopeia-Nhacatiua road in Luabo district, Zambezia – a distance of around 96 kilometres – due to heavy rain in the region in the last few days.
The information was provided to Radio Mozambique by Roberto Segredo, Director of the Luabo District Planning and Infrastructure Services.
Segredo said that the road is currently very muddy, making passage virtually impossible, and only some motorised vehicles succeeding, albeit with great difficulty.
The source said that the situation is increasing transport costs, with residents of Luabo district able to access the rest of the province only via Marromeu district in Sofala.
Access to other parts of the district is reasonable, the source said, taking into account the rehabilitation of rural roads Luabo district currently underway with financing from the World Bank.
