Mozambique: National Road number 1, Incoluane-Xai-Xai section repairs coming soon
A 45 year-old woman whose name has not so far been disclosed has died in an attack of a sexual nature, which is suspected to have been committed by several individuals still at large, in Matola’s Intaka neighbourhood, a part of Maputo province where residents have recently been reporting an upsurge in crimes of this type.
According to @Verdade, the woman was an informal trader at the Benfica market in the George Dimitrov neighbourhood on the outskirts of the capital.
Her body was found on Tuesday morning, August 16, in the bathroom of a house not part of the block where she lived. She had left for work the day before but not returned home. It is suspected that she was snatched by a gang and then raped and killed to prevent her identifying her attackers.
In the evening of the day their mother disappeared, her children did not know where to look for her, since this was the first time she was late home without reason. Once the body was found, her husband made the formal identification.
The owner of the home where the body was found said that she had to ask neighbourhood social networks for help locating the family of the deceased, since she did not know her personally.
The Intaka neighbourhood is currently being terrorized by criminals who, according to residents, break into homes, raping occupants including children, and making off with belongings without any fear of being apprehended.
