Mozambique: Chapo attends African Union Summit
Screen grab: TV Sucesso
The song “Trufafá” is currently one of the most popular among the public. Such a hit that a DJ hosting the anniversary party of Vila da Macia, Gaza province, hit the play button to cheers from the crowd, but ended up being taken away by the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM).
After toasting the public, images were circulated claiming to show the DJ being detained by the PRM.
But, this Monday, a TV Sucesso reporter in Gaza heard the authorities’ version first hand, which made it very clear that the DJ was in fact not arrested, but rather detained in the Bilene police command, in order to protect his physical integrity. “Looking at the venue, the way it happened it was matter of a possible popular fury uprising, because it was an event not connected to questions of politics,” the PRM spokesman told TV Sucesso.
Representative of the Human Rights Network, Sergio Matsinhe, says that it is clear that the young DJ committed no crime and was wrongfully detained. .”There is is an information that the young man was not detained but, unfortunately, he was detained, He has been released but he was in fact detained”.
