Minister of Industry and Trade Max Tonela will open six Farmer Empowerment Hubs in Manica today as part of the government’s US$22 million dollar investment in the production of about 23,000 small farms.
In addition to the centres in Manica, 17 more will be built in districts with agricultural potential in Nampula, Tete and Zambezia provinces, covering an area estimated at 36,400 square meters.
The centres will facilitate and develop small farmers’ skills, act as points of crop collection and input distribution, and will train women to manage shops equipped with agricultural accessories.
