The VIII ordinary session of the Assembly of the Republic, which starts this Thursday, will count on the absence of the Renamo bench, which promises to return to the people’s house only after seeing what it considers electoral justice in all the country’s municipalities.
“The Renamo parliamentary bench does not agree, repudiates and does not accept the results of the local elections. On the opening day of this session at the Assembly of the Republic, the Renamo bench will not be present. Our return will depend on the Frelimo party and the restoration of electoral truth”, said José Manteigas, Renamo spokesman.
On the other hand, the Frelimo parliamentary group said that it will be represented by all its deputies and appeals to Renamo’s common sense.
“I believe that they will have to put their hand on their conscience, because this is the podium that the people have given us and we have to respect it in the first instance, we have to avoid putting our personal emotions on it because we represent a mandate and we must respect it”, said Feliz Silva, head of the Frelimo Bench.
The VIII ordinary parliamentary session ends on December 21st and will also discuss the proposed law that approves the Economic and Social Plan, and State Budget for 2024.
The proposal has already been approved by the Council of Ministers for economic growth of 5.5 percent.
