Mozambique Elections: Frelimo wins in Pemba with around 38 thousand votes

Frelimo won the 2023 municipal elections in Pemba with more than half of the total votes cast at the polls during the sixth municipal elections.
The Frelimo party obtained around 38 thousand votes, against just over 16 thousand for Renamo and less than five thousand for MDM.
Renamo and MDM are unhappy with the defeat, which they allege was the result of electoral fraud
Pemba was the first of the seven municipalities in Cabo Delgado to officially release the intermediate results of the sixth municipal elections in the country.
The heads of list (candidates for mayor) of the three main parties competing in Pemba in the 2023 municipal elections were absent at the time the results were announced, but were represented by the parties’ representatives, some of whom already expected the defeat.
