Cash circulating in Mozambique hits record 70 billion meticais

The volume of export revenue from the manufacturing industry increased by 15.6% in the second quarter of this year compared to the previous period, rising from US$321.4 million to US$371.8 dollars.
According to the Statistical Information report recently released by the Bank of Mozambique, to which the Diário Económico has had access, this growth was supported essentially by the export of aluminium bars and cables.
In the period in question, according to the central bank report, Mozambique earned US$310 million from the export of aluminium bars compared to the previous US$255.3 million. Aluminium cables earned US$42.7 million in Q2, compared to US$39.1 million recorded in the previous period.
Still in the manufacturing industry category, sugar, cashew kernels and sunflower oil saw falls in revenue of US$500,000, US$6.1 million and US$2.7 million respectively in the period under analysis.
Overall, Mozambican exports in the first quarter of this year generated US$2.1 billion, an increase of US$400 million on the previous quarter.
