The #IFJ has condemned the attempted murder of #journalists in Mozambique and called for the authorities to act swiftly to apprehend the attackers.
Armed men attacked two clearly marked media vehicles from public broadcasters Radio and #Television Mozambique.
One journalist was injured and equipment was damaged as the vehicle, which was heading to Makossa district in Manica province, to cover the visit of the President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, was riddled with bullets.
The National Union of Journalists of Mozambique has condemned the attack, claiming it constitutes an attempted murder of journalists. The IFJ backed calls for speedy action to catch the attackers and ensure Mozambiquan journalists can work free from threats and violence.
