Mozambique: Rehabilitation of “Josina Machel” begins

The National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) in Nampula province on Friday arrested another group of individuals in possession of human bones, believed to be from a citizen with skin pigmentation syndrome (albino)Carta de Moçambique.
The six men arrested arrest in the expansion zone of Nampula city probably exhumed the bones in an area of Gilé district, Zambézia province, birthplace of at least three of the detainees, SERNIC’s spokeswoman in Nampula province, Enina Tsinine, said.
The SERNIC action thwarted the sale attempt in the Muahivire area of Nampula city, Tsinine added, a tip-off regarding which reached the corporation on Monday of last week. The source stated that the possible buyer had not yet been contacted, but said that the crime involved a family member of the victim who is still in Gilé district.
The macabre deal thwarted by SERNIC would earn those involved around 500,000 meticais.
One of the suspects denied his involvement in the deal and said he was merely providing motorcycle taxi service to one of his clients.
Another detainee also denied involvement in the business, stating that he received the order without knowing its contents and, in exchange, was to receive a new motorcycle and 50,000 meticais.
