Kenya’s president, William Ruto, begins a two-day state visit to Mozambique this Thursday to assess the level of cooperation between the two countries, the office of Mozambique’s president, Filpe Nyusi, announced in a statement.
The Kenyan head of state will hold talks with his counterpart in Mozambique on the consensus reached at the second session of the Joint Cooperation Commission between the two countries, which took place from Monday to Wednesday.
The two presidents will also “share information on the political, economic and social situation in the two countries, the region, the continent and the world,” the note adds.
Mozambique’s minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Verónica Macamo, on Wednesday called for “greater dynamism” in cooperation with Kenya, through the “intensification” of bilateral economic relations, in anticipation of Ruto’s visit to Maputo.

Kenya’s minister for foreign affairs and diaspora affairs, Alfred Mutua, has also advocated for deepening economic and trade ties between countries on the continent, noting that countries in Africa tend to export and import more from partners in other continents.
