Minister of Economy and Finance Max Tonela says that there is enough money to hire 60 doctors, as announced by the Council of Ministers on Tuesday in response to the doctors’ strike. The measure comes after the Government last July decided to make no further hirings in 2023.
This Tuesday, after another ordinary session of the Council of Ministers, the Government announced the hiring of 60 doctors to respond to the absence of striking doctors, who are already on their 24th day of strike action.
Questioned on the subject, the Minister of Economy and Finance had little to say, but guaranteed that there was money for new hires.
This decision comes after the government announced last July that it would make no new hires in 2023, as well as cutting the salaries of some state employees and agents as a way to reduce spending on salaries.
Max Tonela was speaking this Wednesday on the sidelines of the parliamentary consultation on the law that creates the Sovereign Fund.
