Prime Minister Adriano Maleiane has called for national and international investment in mineral resources processing industry at the local level in order to add value to the Mozambican extractive industry.
Speaking in Pemba, Cabo Delgado province, at the opening of the Energy and Industry Summit on Tuesday, the prime minister called for a commitment to linking large projects in the extractive industry to small and medium-sized Mozambican companies, which are the main vector for creating employment and income opportunities.
“The theme of this Conference – ‘Energy and Industry’ – fits into the perspective of industrialising our country, with a greater focus on transforming local raw materials into processed products in order to add value,” Maleiane highlighted.
The Cabo Delgado Energy and Industry Summit lasts for two days, and is organised by the Local Content Association of Mozambique with the aim of finding solutions for entrepreneurs in the province who feel excluded from business opportunities within the scope of Rovuma Basin LNG exploitation projects.
