Diesel will cost around seven meticais more per lire as from tomorrow, Friday (May 12). The price of gasoline was reduced by 1.48 meticais. The new prices were announced by ARENE this Thursday and are valid for Maputo, Matola, Beira, Nacala and Pemba cities.
The new fuel prices were announced this Thursday by the Energy Regulatory Authority, in a press release.
The price of diesel rises by 6.78 meticais to 94.75 Meticais and vehicular gas increases by 1.43 meticais to 45.16 meticais per litre equivalent.
Meanwhile, gasoline drops from the current 86.97 to 85.49 meticais per litre.
The price of cooking gas remains the same, at 90,01 meticais per litre..
“It should be noted that the adjustment in the price of diesel will not influence the fare for public and semi-collective transport, as management instruments have been applied to guarantee the protection of user citizens”, readsthe note.
According to ARENE, the rise in the price of diesel, in a context where the price of crude tends to fall on the international market, is justified by the increase in the cost of importing oil products.
“This situation has generated a deficit in the operation of fuel distribution companies, since the price charged does not cover the costs necessary for its importation, which may lead to a situation of insecurity in the supply of fuel in the national market”, reads the document.
As usual, prices are valid for Maputo, Matola, Beira, Nacala and Pemba, cities whichhave ports. In other parts of the country, the price adjustments will be differentiated.
