Minister of Transport and Communications Mateus Magala has challenged the managers of the Port of Maputo to expand their territories and geographic markets through technological innovation and creativity in the provision of services.
Mateus Magala maintains that this is how the port of Maputo can increase the number of hinterland countries using the infrastructure for the transhipment of their goods.
“We expect to see the Maputo Port Development Company (MPDC) serving other hinterland countries seeking opportunities to diversify their cargoes, and extending their economic growth potential to neighbouring countries such as Eswatini, Zimbabwe and Zambia,” the minister said.
“We believe that new means of digital integration will provide paths for the growth of the logistics sector,” he added.
The Minister of Transport and Communications was speaking this Friday at a gala celebrating the 20th anniversary of the MPDC, Companhia de Desenvolvimento do Porto de Maputo, the public-private company responsible for managing the enterprise.
