President Filipe Nyusi starts a three-day working visit to Inhambane province today, during which he will meet with local government officials, interact with the population and other stakeholders and visit projects of economic and social interest.
In Inhambane, a province rich in mineral resources, livestock, marine resources and tourism potential, President Nyusi will visit the districts of Maxixe, Jangamo, Funhalouro, Vilankulo and Inhassoro.
Some districts of the province are suffering from the severe drought affecting the southern and central regions of the country, and it is expected that the president which wish to learn about the situation and ongoing efforts at local level.
The president will then direct an extraordinary meeting of the provincial government extended to district administrators and mayors and other staff, as well as convening rallies in the five districts he is to visit.
The president, accompanied by six ministers, will take part in a Financial Inclusion Fair in the city of Maxixe bringing together economic and financial stakeholders to create an environment for financial education and to encourage people to learn more about the formal financial sector.
The party will also visit the Sasol Gas Processing Plant and the Inhassoro Vocational Training Centre, the agricultural production centre of Jangamo with its cattle tick desinfestation tank, and the cashew nursery in Funhalouro.
Sasol, a South African multinational, is exploring the Pande and Temane natural gas fields and is planning further activities in the hydrocarbon sector.
Accompanying the head of state are the Ministers of the Interior, Jaime Basilio Monteiro; the State Public Service and Administration, Carmelita Namashulua; Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries, Agostinho Mondlane; Youth and Sports, Nkutumula; Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, Carlos Bonete Martinho, and Combatants, Ernesto Lambo Gondiwa, members of staff of the Presidency and other state institutions.
