Mozambique: Gender-based violence taking lives in Nampula province - Ikweli report

Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Tokyo; President and CEO: Kenichi Hori) would like to express its solidarity to all the people affected by the floods in the province of Maputo and Cyclone Freddy which made landfall to the province of Zambezia.
Mitsui has decided to donate approximately 105 metric tons of food items valued at US$100,000, consisting rice, maize flour, butter bean, sugar and edible oil, to the National Institute for Disaster Risk Management and Reduction (“INGD”). The INGD coordinates disaster management efforts in Mozambique.
The foods has been delivered to the warehouse of INGD via Mitsui’s affiliated company, Export Marketing Company Ltd (“ETG”), in later-March, and a Donation Ceremony was held at residence of the INDG office on March 29th with Mr. Cesar Tembe, Director of the INGD, Mr. Sogo Jikuhara, Counselor of the Japanese Embassy and Mr. Tetsuya Kusama, General Manager of Representative Office of Mitsui in Maputo, in attendance.
The INGD will ultimately deliver the food items to those who are facing difficulties in accessing food due to the floods and Cyclone Freddy.
Mitsui hopes that this donation will help to alleviate food insecurity for the affected people and would like to express its commitment to supporting the stability of the country’s social environment through its wide-ranging business activities and humanitarian efforts.
