Mozambique: ExxonMobil reaffirms commitment to gas project in Cabo Delgado

Mozambique’s Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy participated in the ‘India Energy Week’ conference between the 6th and 8th of February.
Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy Antônio Saide highlighted investment opportunities in the country, alongside its existing potential in the area of mineral and energy resources.
Saide made reference to the projects under way in the country, with a focus on the generation of electricity to achieve the goal of electrifying the country by 2030, as well as opening up investments in natural gas and renewable energy projects.
Speaking at a ministerial panel titled “Adapting to an Uncertain Future: Reshaping of Global Partnerships”, Saide advocated a fair and just energy transition, stressing that decarbonization should occur gradually and depending on the opportunities and availability of resources in each country.
Speaking on the same panel, the Deputy Minister of Energy of Zimbabwe, Magna Mudyiwa and the Deputy Minister of Energy and Water of Tajikistan, Sorboni Kholmuhamadzoda, echoed his line of thought.
India Energy Week took place from the 6th to the 8th of February in Bengaluru, India, under the theme of ‘Growth, Collaboration, Transition’.
This international platform brought together around 8,000 participants and 650 exhibitors from various public and private entities operating in the mineral resources and energy sector, to offer a joint and essential vision of the policies and priorities of the countries at the heart of the global energy transition.
In this first edition, Deputy Minister António Saíde led a Mozambican delegation which included the Ambassador of Mozambique in New Delhi, staff from the National Directorate of Geology and Mines (DNGM), the National Institute of Petroleum (INP), the National Institute of Mines (INAMI), and the Energy Fund (FUNAE).
