The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) will provide US$50 million to support the construction of hospitals in five Mozambique districts.
The information was shared this Thursday in Dakar, Senegal, by the bank‘s director general, Sidi Ould Tah, at the end of a meeting with President of the Republic Filipe Nyusi.
In addition to supporting the president’s ‘One District, One Hospital’ initiative, BADEA is also discussing finance for water and sanitation projects, the ‘One District, One Bank’ initiative, and food and nutritional security projects.
A BADEA team in Africa will travel to Mozambique in the second quarter of this year to move forward with the projects.
“We will also be supporting the organization of an investment forum, ‘Invest in Mozambique’, where we will bring together investors from Africa and from the Arab world,” Sidi Ould Tahl told TVM.
President Filipe Nyusi believes that cooperation with BADEA will boost the development of the country.
President Nyusi also had meetings yesterday with President William Ruto of Kenya and the senior vice-president of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
