Mayor of Quelimane Manuel de Araújo announced on Wednesday that the municipality would “within a few days” pay its employees the concessionary 13th-month salary.
Mayor Araújo made the announcement in an interview with Mulambe TV (below).
“In the opinion of the Mayor,” a municipality news release reads, “despite his Excellency President of the Republic, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, having expressed the non-payment of the 13th salary to state employees and agents due to the scarcity of funds, according to him caused by the implementation of the Single Salary Table (TSU), this does not create any impediment to decentralized bodies with their own autonomy, such as Municipal Authorities, from making the payment if they are in a position to do so.”
Araújo therefore declared that the Municipality of Quelimane, given its autonomy, would pay the 13th salary to its employees within a few days.
