Around US$400 million will be invested in the National Energy Transport System project linking Tete and Maputo, and aimed at increasing electricity production capacity.
The project will improve the energy quality of more than one million new electricity connections in the country.
Speaking in Maputo this Monday at the launch of new National Energy Transport System branding, executive director Adriano Jonas revealed that the project would cover both domestic and industrial consumers.
In turn, executive director of Mozambique Electricity (EDM) Francisco Inroga said that the new National Energy Transport System branding would convey confidence and credibility in Mozambique’s access to quality energy.
The National Energy Transport System project has the support of the Mozambican government and cooperation partners.
