Twenty eight young professionals, including six women, from Cabo Delgado celebrated the end of their 6-month internships at various companies in the province. Their participation in the Mimi Niko Kazi (MNK) programme, administered by MozParks, allowed them to gain skills and experience required for positions with permanent employment. Six of them have been employed already.
Since 2021, the MNK had 548 young Mozambicans participating in this project, a half of them are women. Almost 200 MNK graduates found jobs straight after completing their internships.
Valige Tauabo, the governor of Cabo Delgado, said that the MNK programme assists with youth empowerment, giving the young people in the province better opportunities to confidently enter the job market.
This programme has been funded by Total Energies; the Employment for Development (E4D) and German Development Agency (GIZ ); the Swiss Agency for Cooperation and Development (SDC) in Mozambique; the Embassy of Ireland in Mozambique.
MozParks works with more than 100 companies in Mozambique who provide work placements for our interns. One of the host companies in Cabo Delgado is Azul Consultoria. Dorothea Naujoks, its representative, congratulated the interns on completing their internships and thanked them for bringing the opportunities for her colleagues to build their mentor and leadership skills. She noted that employers must contribute to building the workforce capacity rather than only demanding professional experience from prospective workers.
Fipag, CSS-Computar System Solution, Machado’s Holding and VM Services are other host companies in Cabo Delgado who provided training placements for the MNK participants.
On behalf of all the graduates, Antoninho Xavier thanked the MozParks MNK programme, the sponsors and the companies that hosted the interns for this opportunity to start their careers.
Onorio Manuel, the General Manager at MozParks, announced that Mimi Niko Kazi is moving into a new stage and is going to expand its operations under a new name, MozYouth foundation. MozYouth will continue with providing hands-on internships for college and university graduates. It will also assist with apprenticeship trainings to those who had no opportunities to receive high education or those who want to reinvent themselves and gain skills that can help in seeking employment.
