Mozambique is mobilising support from Japan to invest in the modernization and installation of equipment at Beira International Airport, as a means to developing new business opportunities and responding to current market demand.
This need arises from the fact that the infrastructure is now over 70 years old, and requires urgent intervention after recently being devastated by the passage of Cyclone Idai.
To this end, the Minister of Transport and Communications, Mateus Magala, held a meeting on Tuesday morning with Japan’s State Minister of the Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Tashiro Toyoda, as part of the visit of a Mozambican government delegation led by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Max Tonela, to the country.
