Students at Montepuez Secondary School will from Friday have a computer room fully equipped with 30 computers.
The provision of the computer room and equipment results from the support of Montepuez Ruby Mining within the scope of the company’s social responsibility agenda.
Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Valige Tauabo said that the computer equipment would ensure equitable and inclusive access to secondary education, with a special emphasis on girls and people with special educational needs.
“We want this investment to promote quality education through the use of new information and communication technologies, a factor of transformation and an important catalyst for change, as well as guaranteeing the competitiveness of young people in the labour market,” Tauabo said.
Provincial Director of Education, Ivaldo Quincardete, challenged Montepuez district Education, Youth and Technology service to introduce distance learning in the 11th and 12th Grades at the school.
Also in Montepuez district last Friday, Governor Tauabo inaugurated seven new classrooms, five in the Montepuez Secondary School and two in Mararange Complete Primary School, all built with Montepuez Ruby Mining financial support.
