More than 17,000 customers, including public institutions in Chitima, Cahora Bassa district, and in the city of Tete, owe the Fund for Investment and Assets of Water Supply (FIPAG) a total of 384.8 million meticais.
The number represents almost half FIPAG’s 38,000 customers in the area.
This state of affairs was revealed by FIPAG operational area director Adelson Manuel in the course of a press briefing on the water supply in the city of Tete.
Manuel explained that a reduction in the amount owed would allow FIPAG to become more sustainable and increase interventions to improve the water distribution network in the two areas.
