The Director General of Customs in Mozambique, Taurai Tsama, yesterday inaugurated in the Port of Maputo the offices where the Special Goods Control Unit, aimed at containing trade in illicit products and ensuring the payment of customs duties, will operate.
The unit is made up of officers from Customs, the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM), the National Criminal Investigation Services (Sernic) and the Fauna and Flora Administration.
Speaking on the occasion, Taurai Tsama underlined that the unit’s inauguration represents a gain for the country, since it will put to an end the use of the port enclosure and services for the import or export of drugs, weapons, human organs, and protected fauna and flora products, among others.
