A 13-year-old boy and a 25-year-old merchant have been murdered in separate incidents in the city of Tete. The boy was murdered on Sunday and the trader on Tuesday night.
The minor was killed in order to remove his lungs and heart to hand over to a healer in order to continue treatment to obtain unlimited wealth in the business activities of the three persons involved in the crime.
Police spokesman in Tete, Feliciano da Câmara, explained that the accused in the homicide of the minor, along with the two other individuals, took the child to the banks of the Zambezi river, where they consummated the vile act.
“They took his life with a knife and extracted the two organs that the healer had instructed them to deliver,” da Câmara said. “They then threw the boy’s body into the river. The police heard of the boy’s disappearance from his family and took steps that culminated in the arrest of this individual, in his 30s, who lives in the Mpáduè neighbourhood and is a pig farmer.”
Da Câmara reported that merchant victim had left the district of Macanga for Tete city in order to buy stock for his commercial establishment and, because of the distance involved, stayed in a residence there, where the owners, realising that their guest was in possession of a large sum of money, killed him with a stone and a knife, and then seized the loot.
The two perpetrators then fled, da Camara said, but the wife of one of the perpetrators was arrested for involvement in the act, with the stone and the knife used right next to her.
She however protested innocence and gave up her husband as the one who did the killing.
