A businessman from Salamanga, Matutuíne district, in Maputo province, was recently arrested for involvement in the crime of poaching.
The businessman, whose name was not revealed, was dedicated to the sale of animals slaughtered in the Maputo National Park (PNM), having been captured by protection rangers in yet another incursion into the conservation area.
In addition to the respective vehicle, a firearm in the possession of that poacher was seized.
The arrest took place in the Guengo community. The suspect was incarcerated in the Bela Vista Command.
According to information, the aforementioned hunter tried to bribe around four (4) rangers with around 100,000 meticais each (1,565.89 USD).
