A stoppage in the South African immigration and customs clearance system was the reason for the long queues of people and vehicles on both sides of the Ressano Garcia border in Maputo province yesterday morning and early afternoon.
The line of backed-up vehicles stretched all the way to Kilometre Four on the Mozambican side, while at the Lebombo border in South Africa, it extended for more than 10 kilometres.
National Migration Service (SENAMI) spokesman in Maputo province, Juca Mário, said that the stoppage had slowed the entry and exit of travellers from one side of the border to the other.
