The bodies of at least 16 terrorists have been found in the woods in Quissanga district, Cabo Delgado province, some killed in clashes with the Defence and Security Forces (FDS) and others attacked by animals.
The information was shared on Wednesday by the general commander of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM), Bernardino Rafael, at a public meeting in the village of Natuco, Quissanga district.
According to Rafael, the deceased were among the group of terrorists that attacked Natuco on Sunday, September 25.
“At this very moment, the bodies of the 16 terrorists are being buried. Some died from the bullets from our forces and others as a result of attacks by animals such as lions, buffaloes and snakes,” Rafael said, adding that the incursion by the criminals into Natuco was led by an individual identified as Zubair, said to have been born in Memba, Nampula province.
