Mozambique: Fire devours tourist resort in Chidenguele – Notícias

A major fire broke out early last night (31), destroying several compartments of a tourist resort located in the administrative post of Chidenguele, Gaza province.

The head of that administrative post, Manuel Bambo, confirmed the occurrence and said that an individual, a neighbour of the establishment, was taken to the cells of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique for investigations around the case.

Bambo also explained that the fire started at the residence of the individual who is being detained, which is a neighbour of the tourist resort “Lake View”. In his house there was a fire lit, for cooking food. Due to the force of the wind, some sparks fell on the roof of the restaurant of the tourist resort , which was made up of reed and thus, the fire broke out across the [restaurant’s] room and also devoured the kitchen, leaving the enterprise’s compartments in ashes.

“This is not arson, it was something accidental, but the author is in custody and investigations into the causes are already underway”, he stressed.

UM incêndio de grandes proporções deflagrou, no inicio da noite de ontem (31), destruindo diversos compartimentos de uma estância turística localizada no posto administrativo de Chidenguele, província de Gaza.

O chefe daquele posto administrativo, Manuel Bambo, confirmou a ocorrência e contou que, um indivíduo, vizinho do estabelecimento, foi recolhido às celas da Polícia da República de Moçambique para averiguações à volta do caso.

Bambo explicou ainda que, o fogo começou na residência do indivíduo que se encontra detido que é vizinha da estância turística “Lake View”. Na casa havia uma lareira para a confecção de alimentos. Devido a força do vento, algumas faúlhas caíram no telhado do restaurante coberto de palha e assim, deflagrou o incêndio pela sala e devorou também a cozinha, deixando em cinzas os compartimentos do empreendimento.

“Não se trata de fogo posto, foi algo acidental, mas o autor está detido e já decorrem investigações das causas”, sublinhou.
