First Capital Bank, within its Social Responsibility program has carried out several initiatives that aim to support the communities where it operates, as a way to give back to society. In that sense, it embraced a project for the rehabilitation of the Ngungunhane Primary School, in Matola, with the active participation of the Bank’s employees. In June 2022, First Capital Bank started an action of cleaning the school classrooms and courtyards, with the collaboration of teachers, students, parents and about 40 employees of the Bank, in a joint effort to improve the conditions of the school.
The Bank also contributed to the improvement of some of the school’s basic infrastructures, namely the unblocking of the toilets and their drains, the revitalisation of the school’s educational wall, the installation of about 14 rubbish bins in the courtyard and the restoration of two water fountains that had long since fallen into disrepair. Thirty boxes of chalk and erasers were also offered.
“First Capital Bank believes that education is the foundation for our country’s growth and this project demonstrates the Bank’s commitment to society. We are focused on providing long-term value and on matters that directly impact the well-being of our communities.” – Sónia Abreu, Marketing Manager of First Capital Bank S.A
More recently, on 8 August 2022, a new stage of rehabilitation was started with the laying of the first stone for the construction of a fence wall, which will be complemented by the rehabilitation of two toilet blocks, aiming to ensure the health and safety of students and the School’s own infrastructure.
“First Capital Bank has a strong connection with the communities in the geographies where it operates and, has a responsibility to give back and contribute to improving their well-being. This is a long-term project that will take about two to three years to complete, but we believe it will have a relevant impact on the School’s current and future students and will help improve their teaching conditions. We are certain that this initiative will positively impact the life of the community” said the Bank Manager.
