Mozambique: Tax Authority prepares to participate in 25 June Independence Day celebrations
Former Minister of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs, Abdurremane Lino de Almeida, passed away of an illness in Maputo on Friday. His funeral took place on Saturday.
Abdurremane Lino de Almeida was born on July 25, 1958, in the Itoculo administrative post, Monapo district, Nampula province. He was appointed Deputy Minister of Public Service in 2007, a position to which he was reappointed in 2010. In 2012, he was part of the government delegation in the dialogue with Renamo,. In 2015, he was appointed Minister of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs, a post from which he was dismissed in 2016.
Abdurremane Lino de Almeida was buried this Saturday, his physical disappearance an irreparable loss for his family.
“He was a living library in the family. He always gave advice to others and was a great adviser. He supported the family in every way he could,” said Abdul de Almeida on behalf of the family.
For his friends and colleagues, a life is gone, but Abdurremane’s teachings remain forever.
“It’s a shocking moment for all of us, as he was a cadre in the Ministry of Justice and a great leader for us; he taught us a lot,” said Domingos Matola.
Ombudsman Isaque Chande praised Abdurremane’s contribution to public administration.
“I believe that his military and public administration career reflects someone dedicated to the cause of building the country. This is why he is also a shining example of a man,” Chande said.
Abdurremane Lino de Almeida leaves a widow, six children and four grandchildren.
