Studiesshow that more than 600 million women and girls around the world lack the necessary means to manage their menstrual cycle. In order to promote access to health, education and success opportunities for Mozambican girls and women, Grindrod created a strategic partnership with Be Girl social, and as two entities offered 500 waterproof panties and 500 reusable hygienic pads.
The initiative took place last April when the Mozambican Women Day was celebrated. The Grindrod goal was to promote an action that would impact Mozambican girls not only now but also in their future, empowering and educating them during the menstrual cycle to provide cleanliness and maintenance of their hygiene to ensure they can continue education.
In addition to sharing knowledge with women, the Be Girl team also trained 35 teachers so that they also are able to train young women.
“We know that education goes beyond the information that is transmitted in the classroom. Our girls have the right to menstrual health and dignified hygiene. The healthier they are, better students will be and a better future will have”, shared the Director of EPC Matola Gare
School, Maria Raquel Luís.
